David Poppleton
Having grown up in Avalon, David has recently made not a living sea-change but a working one from being a senior figure in the development industry in planning, design, marketing & sales of Sydney’s most prominent residential developments, to focussing close to home on projects on the Northern Beaches.
His extensive professional bio and accomplishments are difficult to summarise in a few paragraphs. Essentially, he is accredited with “spearheading the modern era of project marketing in Australia.” (Arthur Lane Macquarie Bank).
David’s had a crucial, leading role in establishing off plan project marketing in Australia, changing the way residential property is developed and marketed here and internationally. This includes identifying and forecasting market demand changes and & lead to the first marketing and sell out of projects off the plan in Sydney and internationally.
David has an Environmental Planning Degree and then studied for a Post Grad Urban and Regional Planning Diploma at UNE. Worked in local Gov’t Town Planning before entering property with Lend Lease Homes in Development Management and Leighton Properties in Marketing Management. He established Colliers Jardine Residential Project Marketing in 1992 where he was the leading force in the creation the off-plan project marketing, undertaking over $38 Billion worth of residential projects. David is highly reputed for his market knowledge and abilities in maximising project returns through the most appropriate market designs, creative marketing and sales strategies.
David Chaired the Inaugural National Conference on Maximising Returns from Residential Developments and was a Medium Density Committee Member of the Urban Development Institute of Australia. David was part of the City West (Ultimo-Pyrmont- Darling Harbour) Regional Planning Team and was appointed to the NSW Government’s (City West) Design Review Committee for most of Pyrmont’s major projects.
He has guest lectured on marketing and market design at both UNI of NSW and UNI of New England and to Sydney City Council on the future market for city apartments and residential conversions of commercial high rise.
Locally, David has been a long-time contributor to the local environment and community. Apart from being a Director of the Pittwater Environment Foundation he has previously been Vice Chair of Pittwater Councils Sustainability Committee, Chairman of the Careel Bay / Pittwater Protection Assoc and has an ornithological study published as a chapter in Biogeographical Textbook by Dr Jeremy Smith.
